To assist in defining the territories across the UK, ReactFast employed the services of and worked closely with, one of the most experienced and respected companies in this field. The country has been divided up into Master Territories and Support Areas, as defined below, and the result is a robust territory structure and policy. The territories have been drawn up so that there should be no difference in business potential between a Master Territory and a Support Area - they are all based on +/- 100, 000 households and other demographic considerations. The difference in names is only to distinguish between those we have designated as being available to be awarded to franchisees on a contractual basis, and those which we plan to leave unsold.
Every franchisee is awarded his own protected UK territory, in which he always has “right of first refusal”. If however the franchisee is unable to respond to a customer in his own territory, naturally ReactFast have the right to send in another franchisee or other engineer to do the job. We hope though that this will be the exception, and that each franchisee will focus on building the business in his own territory by providing an excellent service, with 24/7 cover. Although some territories will be geographically larger than others, this merely represents population density. The aim has been, as far as possible, to ensure that all territories have approximately equal business potential for ReactFast franchisees. Every territory will be formally defined in the Franchise Agreement.
In addition to the territories as described above, ReactFast plans to have areas that are “no man’s land” adjacent to/around/between territories. Currently referred to as “support areas”, business from these is available to any franchisee who chooses to work in them - they are not reserved for the individual franchisee the way his territory is. He will share them with his neighbours. Think of the territories being islands in a sea of support area. Any franchisee can look for business anywhere in the support area. However (except for emergencies) Operations should only offer jobs that they consider within an acceptable geographic proximity or drive time (typically a 20-mile radius “drive-to-work” area measured from a point within the territory). The support area sensibly accessible to the typical franchisee, and where he might be offered jobs, will vary from area to area, but could typically be up to double the potential of his own contractual territory. In short, in addition to his own territory (where he has first rights) there are a lot of other places a franchisee may look for business, and from which ReactFast will pass him jobs.
